Worship - What to Expect
Please join us for worship either at 8am or 10:15am on a Sunday. At either service you will find a warm welcome, space to encounter God in worship, and engaging preaching. Both services offer Holy Communion each week. The 8am service uses traditional Elizabethan English, is quiet, reflective and does not have any music. The 10:15am service is in modern English, we sing hymns and there is a small choir that leads us.
8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite I
This service is for those who like to worship early and simply. A said service that uses the beautiful Elizabethan English of the Rite I Eucharist and makes the most of the powerful liturgy of the Anglican tradition, this service attracts a loyal band of worshipers who constitute an important and vital part of the St. James’ family.
9:00 a.m. Please join us for coffee hour
We have started up coffee hour again after a long pandemic break! If you worship at 8am, coffee is available straight after the service. If you worship at 10:15am, come and meet some of the 8am congregation!
10:15 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite II (with organ and choir)
This service enjoys hymns and choir anthems led by organist Jim Zeloyle and a small volunteer choir. We'd always welcome new voices in the choir, which rehearses alternate Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:45pm. Please contact Jim for more details and to figure out which Thursday to meet.
Sunday Ministries
We rely on a wide range of volunteers on a Sunday. Acolytes, readers, ushers and greeters, altar guild, setting up coffee hour, help with the sound. The list goes on!
If you’d like to be on the schedule for Sunday Ministries, please do be in touch with Luann in the office and she can point you in the right direction for the ministry that you’d like to serve in.
You can find the schedule for ushers/greeters, acolytes and readers posted for both 8am and 10:15am services just outside the chapel on the wall opposite the coat hangers.
